22nd European Conference on Literacy – Ireland 2022

The 22^nd  European Conference on Literacy and the 46th Annual Conference, which was jointly organised by the Federation of European Literacy Associations and The Literacy Association of Ireland,  took place in Dublin, Ireland from July 4^th to July 6^th, 2022, alongside the 46^thAnnual Conference of the Literacy Association of Ireland.

Sharing Conference Slides and Handouts

Presenters are encouraged  to share slides and other relevant resources from their sessions. If you would like to share these materials after the conference via the FELA Website, please email the relevant files to conference@literacyireland.com by September 15, 2022. We will share the files in the provided format, i.e. if you send your presentation as a PDF, it will be shared as a PDF; if you share it as a PPT it will be shared as a PPT. Please only share materials that you are willing for the conference organisers to make available to a wider audience.

Conference Proceedings

Participants are invited to submit a paper based on their presentation for an edited electronic proceedings, to be published on the FELA and Literacy Association of Ireland websites. Papers should be no longer than 3000 words, including references, which should follow APA format. Papers should be mailed to gerry.shiel@gmail.com, by Nov 1st, 2022.

The conference theme, “Literacy and Diversity: New Directions” brought together researchers and educators from all over Europe and further afield to celebrate, discuss, debate and examine matters relating to literacy, literacy teaching and literacy research, across the full span of human learning. The aim of the conference was to encourage discourse about the evolution of diverse literacies in the 21^st century and to hear the range of voices in the world of literacy. The following subthemes were explored: 

• Subtheme 1: Literacy in the Early Years  
• Subtheme 2: Effective Literacy Instruction
• Subtheme 3: Digital Literacies
• Subtheme 4: Literacy Environments
• Subtheme 5: Inclusive Practices in Literacy for Diverse Learners
• Subtheme 6: Lifelong Development of Literacy Skills
